Date: 2007-09-02 09:11 pm (UTC)Have you read any of Vivian Vande Velde's books? They're brilliant and hilarious. I definitely recommend them. ^__^ Oh. And Diana Wynne Jones. Very intelligent and creative lady, there.

Date: 2007-09-02 10:23 pm (UTC)I've seen Dianna Wynne Jones's books at the library, but shied away because they were incredibly thick and usually had pictures of animals on the cover. This was when I was younger, however, and perhaps next time I'm at the library I'll give one a go! This Vivian Vande Velde (that can't be her real name, I'll eat my hat!) I've never even heard of. Time to experiment!

Date: 2007-09-02 10:59 pm (UTC)Don't know if you heard of Studio Ghibli's film Howl's Moving Castle, but it was originally a book by DWJ. One of my favourites. :3 I'm slowly working on the Chrestomanci books (most likely the one you saw with the cat on it belonged in that series), but I think they're amazing. And prepare to eat your hat, missy! >:D

Date: 2007-09-02 11:09 pm (UTC)Oh, yes, I have seen Howl's Moving Castle and I did know DWJ wrote it. And you're right, the book I saw did have a cat on the cover. I made a staunch point of never reading those gigantic Redwall books because I didn't want to read about mice (even though I've read books that only featured deer, say, or rabbits--I'm weird), so I wasn't really drawn to the cat thing. But now I'm thinking once I have time I ought to give DWJ and VVV both a try.
Man...I really like my hat. Oh well...

Date: 2008-02-24 04:44 am (UTC)And as for Eoin Colfer, yeah, last time I checked (a while ago), he had about four other books. The Benny and Omar/Babe books were fun, and the Wish List was good too.
